The First Post!

I love to write. I don't know how many people know that. But I do. I'm not necessarily the greatest at it, but I really enjoy it. And I miss it. I really enjoyed some of the stuff that I had to write for college, but some of the stuff I had to write kinda made me forget how much I enjoy writing--creatively, of course. Anyway, I would really like to get back into writing, now that I am not obligated for college stuff. So I decided to start a blog of my random writing! I have taken a couple play-writing classes and absolutely loved them. So this first blip is a short play/film idea that I have had in my mind for the last week. It's about Jack and Emily who are newlyweds. They are on their honeymoon and starting out in an argument. (Before the play begins--When they were at the airport Emily was leaning down to get something from her bag. When she bent down Jack left to get a drink of water but Emily didn't know that. When she comes back up from her bag, there is a guy that looks a lot like Jack standing where he had been. She wraps her arms around him and starts talking cutely when she realizes it isn't Jack. Jack had watched from a distance, finding humor in the incident. Emily is not so entertained, especially when she finds out that Jack had just watched it instead of coming over. And she's upset that he didn't say he was leaving for a moment. The show opens on their nice hotel suite. Emily comes in upset and she left Jack go bring all the luggage in. Jack is still humored by what happened, which makes Emily even more upset.) This definitely has to be a play/film. It can't just be a story because one major part of the script is the physical humor in it. There are points where there is no dialogue, just physical interaction between the characters.

Not The Last

(A young woman stomps onstage. She looks around for a moment, walks straight to the couch and throws herself down on it. A young man appears at the door, weighed down with luggage. He is trying not to laugh.)

JACK
You could have helped me with the luggage babe.

EMILY
You could have done something instead of just standing there!

JACK
I wasn't just standing there... I was watching.

EMILY
You're a jerk.

JACK
Why're you mad at me? I'm the one that should be upset. After-all, you're the one that had your arms around another man within a day of marrying me!

EMILY
That's not... I didn't... oh you are infuriating!

JACK
Come on. It wasn't that bad.

EMILY
It was embarrassing!

JACK
So you embraced another man who wasn't your husband... it wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened.

EMILY
It wasn't like that and you know it.

JACK
I do. I was watching, remember?

EMILY
I don't like you right now.

JACK
Seriously, what's the big deal babe?

EMILY
The big deal? I made a complete fool of myself and you just stood there!

JACK
I told you, I wasn't just-

EMILY
Oh I'm sorry, I forgot. You were watching.

JACK
Just calm down Em.

EMILY
You did not just say that.

JACK
No I didn't.

EMILY
I'm not talking to you anymore.

JACK
What?

(EMILY turns away from him and doesn't respond. He shrugs and carries some of the suitcases into a room just off of the living room. EMILY glares after him before getting up and retrieving a book from a small bag just inside the front door. She returns to the couch and starts reading. JACK emerges wearing swim trunks under a nice fluffy robe. EMILY stares at him as he walks out.)

JACK
Huh? It's our honeymoon. I'm going to dang well enjoy it!
(EMILY almost responds then remembers she is not speaking to him.)

Oh that's right. You're not talking to me. Guess that means you won't mind if I have this yummy candy-bar that just happens to be your favorite. (Retrieving from the same bag that EMILY got her book from. She snorts and glares in return. JACK sits on the couch right next to EMILY, crowding her. She tries shoving him away a bit but he doesn't budge. She just scoots farther away and tries to ignore him.)
