One sentence exercise.

So if you didn't know, I decided to go back to school! So today was my first day back at BYU. Phew! It is good to be back, but a little scary at the same time. Anyway. I am taking Playwriting 2 again, and my teacher challenged us to write every day. I decided if I really want to be a good playwright, or a good writer at all, I should take that challenge. Well, I picked up my Writer's Workbook again and started reading. The next exercise was to write a movie title and in one sentence, describe the movie. So here goes!

1. The Lord of the Rings-A young man must carry an evil ring to Mordor to have it destroyed before the devilish sorcerer gets hold of it and becomes powerful beyond all description.
2. Les Miserable-In the midst of war-torn France, a man released from a long prison sentence changed his life and ended up spending years raising a young girl that was not his, because he made a promise to her mother that he would do so.
3. Runaway Bride-A reporter falls in love with a woman that is notorious for running away from the groom on her wedding day; she runs from the reporter as well, but he finally finds a way to get her to stay and they end up happily married.
4. Bride Wars-Two best friends want to get married in the same venue, but only one can get married there because it is so popular and they tear their friendship apart by attacking each other with awful pranks.
5. Beauty and the Beast-A beautiful girl gives up her freedom to live forever in an enchanted castle in order to save her father; she falls in love with the beast/master of the castle and defends him to the village people who think he is a horrible beast.
6. How to Train Your Dragon- In a small Viking village, a young scrawny boy who is known as a screw-up, takes down the most dangerous dragon known and trains the dragon and tries to convince the dragon-hating village people that dragons are not horrible like they were once thought to be.
7. P.S. I Love You-A woman tragically loses her husband to cancer, but he spent some of his last days concocting a huge plan to get her to move forward and on with her life.
8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-Some normal turtles are affected by special goo that turns them into human-size talking ninja turtles that fight crime.
9. (Spoorloos) The Vanishing-After the vanishing of his girlfriend, a young man searches for years to find out what happened to her; the man responsible for her disappearance shows up and promises to tell the boyfriend what happened to her, but only by him experiencing everything that she did.
10.  Sherlock Holmes-Sherlock is an extremely intelligent and perceptive (chauvinistic and rude too) man who solves even the most impossible crimes with the help of his smart doctor sidekick.

Whew! That was actually a lot harder than I thought! If you know of any good writing exercises let me know so I can try them. Thanks for reading!
